Mending Broken Britain

It is perhaps amazing, that the worst civil disturbances in living history during August 2011, have not led to any national conferences that aim to unpick something of the complex causes and analyse the crucial role of Education in addressing these profound issues.

This national conference, organised by Curriculum Enrichment for the Common Era (CE4CE) and its friends, sponsored by Birmingham City University and Promoting International Community Cohesion Trust, aims to do just that.

We are delighted to be joined by two excellent key note speakers, Professor Gus John, Professor of Education at Strathclyde University and a leading community activist and educationalist, and Professor Mick Waters, Chairman of CE4CE and formerly Director of Curriculum at QCDA; who will explore some of the curriculum implications.

There will be a number of workshops that delegates will choose to attend, which will focus on the following areas:

  • The impact of primary, secondary and supplementary education
  • The role of subjects
  • The impact of wider society
  • The involvement of young people
Places are limited and we advise you to register early. More details about the conference, workshops and programme will follow once registration has been confirmed.
