Ashura

We offer our condolences to the Muslim community who are commemorating Ashura, a day when Muslims mourn the martydom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet, who rose against the injustice and oppresion of the ruler at the time.
Imam Hussein's army consisted of 72 people, against Yazeed's army of 33,000. He and his companions were massacred, and women and children were taken prisoners.
Thomas of Carlyle (Scottish historian and essayist) wrote: "The best lesson which we get from the tragedy of Karbala is that Hussein and his companions were rigid believers in God. They illustrated that the numerical superiority does not count when it comes to the truth and the falsehood. The victory of Hussein, despite his minority, marvels me!"
