We are posting this advert on behalf of the University of Chichester

The University of Chichester is a Church of England Foundation and six members of the Board of Governors are nominated by the Lord Bishop of Chichester.  However, the Board wishes to ensure that the Board's membership reflects the diverse student population and in accordance with the University's Diversity & Equality and Religion & Belief policies, the Student Support Services and the University Chaplain offers direction and practical help to students and staff of all faiths and none.  The Chaplain serves those of other faiths by maintaining relationships with other faith leaders in the area. Inter faith event at the University.

The University of Chichester is a successful modern university.  Well regarded for its performance in the annual Student Satisfaction Survey, Chichester has an excellent record of high quality teaching in sport, cultural and performing arts and public service, including education and social work where students achieve high levels of graduate employment after qualification.   It has a special role in encouraging wider participation in higher education by those from households where there is a low expectation of university attendance.

There will be vacancies on the Board from January 2011 and expressions of interest are invited from those able to demonstrate a commitment to the University’s values of widening participation, a framework of student support to ensure success, underpinned by the scholarship and research of highly motivated and well qualified teaching staff.

The Board of Governors is responsible for the general strategic direction of the institution, safeguarding its assets and ensuring future financial sustainability.   The Nominations Committee welcomes applications from people whose professional skills and experience will add value to the Board.  Expressions of interest are welcome from people of all backgrounds and particular expertise is currently sought in the following areas: Academic Quality, Higher Education, Audit and Compliance, Estate Management and Development, Financial Management in Business, ICT, Marketing and Public Relations.
